Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: There has been repeated removal of stable, well-sourced content by an IP editor and a cluster of newly registered accounts, all with a single-purpose focus. The accounts seem to make minor edits to obscure their intent, while the IP handles the actual deletion of content. This appears coordinated. Warnings have been issued, and discussion has been attempted on the talk page without engagement. J Pratas (talk) 02:00, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The accusation that I am in any way coordinating with anyone is a false and unfounded aspersion. There is a credible accusation of sock-puppetry but it has nothing to do with me (obviously), and semi-protection would not solve it. Also, certainly the least engaged actor on the talk-page is J Pratas, who is dismissive of all opposed arguments, no matter how straightforward they are. There is administrative attention needed for behavioral issues at that page, but this is not it. 100.36.106.199 (talk) 10:14, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The first edit literally corrected your grammar and spelling, you don’t need consensus on that. And how do I prove to you that we aren’t the same person? Benji1207 (talk) 02:43, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed the request from Aristides Sousa Mendes as I don't think that that was the intended article. No opinion on the request itself. Sdrqaz (talk) 19:35, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Declined, sorry but I do not see any need for protection at this point. If there are issues, they can be resolved at the talk page.--Ymblanter (talk) 21:09, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately user J Pratas appears to be an unstable individual with an unhealthy chokehold on this article, such that he won't allow other editors to contribute and immediately reverts their work. What can be done? Cocoa57 (talk) 00:49, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
-Ymblanter - The same stable sourced content has now been deleted for the 4th time, always by the same IP.it the content was stable and sourced it shouldn't be eliminated 4x times without discussion Aristides de Sousa Mendes: Difference between revisions - Wikipedia J Pratas (talk) 23:45, 11 April 20 25 (UTC)

Reason: High level of vandalism, I have warned the editor on various occasions while asking discuss it in the talk page and I have provided sources(used on the article) on why he was incorrect. Replayerr (talk) 13:57, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined As far as I am concerned, this is a content dispute. If the user refuses to engage at the talk page but keeps reverting, sanctions should be sought against the user. Protection is not going to help. Ymblanter (talk) 21:17, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 17:08, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite Semi Protection: All of IPs edits are unconstructive, and im tired of kept on reverting their edits. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 00:59, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Repeated addition of repetitive text by IP Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 01:05, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Mainly known for being a pro-Israeli influencer in the Israel-Palestine conflict. Most edits and content are around that, and many IP and non-EC users are editting into this conflict. Likely should be ECP protected. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 01:30, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please also see discussion here Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view/Noticeboard#Description_of_Meir_Kahane_at_page_on_Lizzy_Savetsky. The article probably is probably more than 50% ARBPIA content. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 01:56, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia page for Whitney Houston should be locked, because people have been removing important information that should still be there.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.135.76.170 (talk) 02:37, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: IP vandalism, edit warring Blowwhite (Talk) 07:36, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: BLP policy violations – Article seems to have a long history of BLP violations and subtle vandalism by IPs. Perception312 (talk) 14:04, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Indefinite semi-protection. This article was semi-protected for a year, and was recently unprotected. However ever since it was unprotected at the start of March, nearly every single edit has been an IP being unconstructive and someone reverting the edit. It'd make it much easier for the constructive editors if we could do this early on rather than later to limit IPs and new editors, considering this article is about a high-profile actress; we did have to this for Tom Holland very recently. 750h+ 14:08, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Kajmer05 (talk) 17:54, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: This Ip user[4] keeps adding first party references that don't even mention every content they've added such as editors, cinematographer, cast members and character names. Hotwiki (talk) 18:02, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Also unreferenced edits like this[5]. The Ip user is not communicating through their edit summary and their talkpage. Hotwiki (talk) 18:06, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent POV editing. ZLEA T\C 19:16, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Request to protect page This page has been repeatedly deleted, moved, and redirected to other unrelated pages. Even after being restored or recreated, it is often redirected again without proper discussion or consensus. These actions have happened multiple times and are disruptive to users and editors who are trying to improve or maintain the content. I kindly request that the page be protected from being moved or redirected further, at least temporarily, until there is a clear consensus. Thank you for your consideration. RaSriAiem (talk) 19:55, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Extended confirmed protection: Persistent removal of academic sources, misusing quotes, and erasing scientific data. Wikipedia:Sockpuppetry, creating new accounts that surprisingly happen to be there, acting as multiple persons.[6].

Turnopoems who started the RFC agreed that the whole disputed content should be removed (as it's spammed throughout the article multiple times, anyway), until a consensus is reached. But surprisingly a newly made account (April 2025) also kept removing the scientific data, and not the whole paragraph, acting as a sockpuppet, removing only the academic sources and keeping the primary and nationalistic ones. Fragrant Peony (talk) 21:02, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fragrant Peony, pages can't be extended-confirmed protected unless semi-protection has been proven inefficient or they're part of a contentious topic... WP:CT/HORN would be a stretch, though, I think. If this is sockpuppetry, page protection wouldn't really solve the issue anyway. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:41, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Create protection: Repeatedly recreated. GPL93 (talk) 22:11, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Constant vandalism and reversions of the origin of Ika language without proper sources. Bernadine okoro (talk) 00:18, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Pending changes: Subject has been deceased for over five years at this point. The administrator who protected the page is unfortunately deceased. CutlassCiera 00:53, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotection: Hardly any disruption on this page; original reason for protection is no longer valid. Admin who protected this page has not edited since 2020. CutlassCiera 23:56, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
