Main Page error reports

To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.

  • Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
  • Offer a correction if possible.
  • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
  • Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 11:32 on 11 April 2025) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
  • Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
  • Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
  • No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
  • Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
  • Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

Errors with "In the news"

@Bagumba, Amakuru, Schwede66, and Stephen: Sorry I missed this discussion. It seems that in 2015 the decision was made to take the casual reader to the least EGGy page rather than the page with content regarding the winning team. It seems that in biography pages we stand at no consensus and on the main page a 2015 discussion is considered to be a consensus. The season page actually has the roster of the people who won the championship. I personally like to be able to see the people who we are actually talking about rather than the history of the franchise, but things are not going to change around here.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:16, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@TonyTheTiger: I suggest taking this up at WT:ITN. This isn't an obvious error and had already been on ERRORs for almost day.[1]Bagumba (talk) 05:37, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
A discussion 10 years ago between two editors seems to have set the precedence that we must now abide by. Stephen 07:37, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Errors in "Did you know ..."

The last entry is grammatically incorrect and/or a typo; it should say "him" instead of "his" per Template:Did you know nominations/Luka Dončić–Anthony Davis trade. Please fix it, thank you. Left guide (talk) 06:36, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging Newyorkbrad, who changed it.[2]Bagumba (talk) 09:16, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Is that an English variant issue? "His" is painful to my ears. Schwede66 09:16, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The change is consistent with how I would say it, but if anyone disagrees you can change it back; I wouldnt have changed something on the main page if I'd thought there would be any disagreement. Regards, Newyorkbrad (talk) 10:36, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Me too, but en-gb speaker here. Maybe this is okay in the us. Secretlondon (talk) 11:19, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I use American English, and I second the complaints here. It is very unnatural, and I am surprised someone changed the hook. GGOTCC (talk) 11:32, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
